What is Bao Blooms?

Bao Blooms is a specialized method for preserving flowers, involving unique drying techniques and displaying them in a shadowbox, optionally accompanied by a photo, memento, or even a wedding invitation for brides. This preservation process maintains the flowers' natural shape and color. It’s a long-lasting blooming memory!

I also provide pressed flower services, however, due to the time-consuming nature of the process, I can only accept a limited number of projects each quarter.

Do you preserve in resin?

I decided not to work with resin due to its toxicity, lack of environmental friendliness and its tendency to yellow over time, which is irreversible.

Where do you preserve flowers?

Currently, I'm exclusively preserving local blooms within Kansas City. However, if your wedding or event is outside this area, let's explore available options together.

What do you charge?

I don’t have fixed prices as they vary depending on the size of the bouquets and the density of the flowers. Preparing, drying, and creatively arranging the flowers can require differing amounts of time and effort.

Price ranges for shadow boxes:

12x15 $500-$700
14x17 $700-$900

Price ranges for pressed flowers:
11x14 $800-$1,000

16x20 $1,000-$1,200

How far in advance should I book?

My turnaround time for orders fluctuates depending on seasonal variations and the volume of orders. On average, shadowbox orders are completed within 1-2 months and pressed flower orders are completed within 2-3 months, but please note that this is not a precise timeline and well worth the wait for your long-lasting flowers!

How do I get my flowers to you?

If you are located within a 20-mile radius of Kansas City, I can arrange to pick up your flowers from your reception venue or meet with you the day after your wedding. For locations beyond this radius, a travel fee of $30 will be applied.

When do you need my flowers?

When it comes to perishable products like flowers, timing is crucial. Receiving the flowers within 24 hours of the event ensures they are in prime condition for drying. Flowers preserve best when they are fresh and robust, so it's essential I receive them as soon as possible.

Flowers that have been deprived of water for extended periods may wilt, compromising their ability to dry effectively. Additionally, excessive handling or accidental dropping can result in bruising, which may remain visible even after drying. I can only preserve the flowers in the condition they are received.

When you're not holding your bouquet, it's advisable to keep the flowers in a water source to maintain hydration. Proper hydration contributes to maintaining their shape and quality throughout the preservation process.

How long does the process take?

Drying flowers isn't an overnight endeavor; rather, it's a meticulous and time-consuming process. Upon receiving your bouquet, I dismantle it to commence drying, which may require considerable time to sort through all the stems. The flowers will undergo a resting period of approximately 2-4 weeks, the duration varying based on the flower types, the size of the order, and the density of the blooms.

Do you only preserve bridal bouquets?

I specialize in preserving wedding florals as well as memorial florals.

Will my flowers look exactly the same?

When flowers undergo the drying and preservation process, moisture is extracted from the petals, leading to various changes. Here are some potential alterations:

-Red or deep-colored roses may darken.

-White flowers might adopt an off-white or yellowish tint

-"Bruising spots” may be visible. To mitigate this, it's advisable to minimize handling, touching, or tossing your flowers.

-Certain tropical flowers or greenery may not withstand the drying process and could turn brown. These can be substituted with artificial replicas.

Do you offer bouquet remakes?

Definitely! While incorporating new florals into your order may incur additional charges, don't hesitate to mention your preferences in your inquiry. We can then discuss potential options together!

How do I care for my preservation?

Caring for your preserved flowers is crucial to ensure their quality and longevity. Follow these simple steps to keep your preserved flowers looking their best:

The dried flowers are very delicate and can break easily. Handle your art pieces with care, avoiding rough handling.

Display your art pieces away from direct sunlight, heat, and humidity. It's important to keep the preserved flowers away from moisture to prevent damage and away from sunlight to prevent colors from fading.

For cleaning and dusting, use a lint-free microfiber cloth or a small amount of warm soapy water. Avoid using Windex or any harsh cleaning agents on your art pieces.

Are there any other important details I should keep in mind?
